  • Congratulations to wrestling regional champion Hickson Love. Hickson and Shaun Caldwell will wrestle at semi-state this Saturday. Congrats to both. 

  • Interested in joining choir next school year? See Mrs. Williams in the lunch room on Thursday, Feb. 13, or Friday, Feb. 14, for information.

  • Interested in playing on the girls soccer team? Coach Jackie and players will be available during lunch the week of Feb. 10 to talk with you!

  • Theta Potata is coming! On Friday, Feb. 14, before the boys basketball game vs. Mount Vernon in the cafeteria, come enjoy a loaded baked potato, chili, nachos, dessert and drink for only $5! You may buy a ticket from any Mu Alpha Theta member or Mr. Porter. This fundraisers helps cover costs for their trip to the national convention.

  • Attention students and staff: Get your Valentine a flower! FCCLA is taking orders at lunch for Valentine flowers for $5 each. Order Monday through Thursday. Orders will be delivered Friday during lunches.

  • If you are interested in studying criminal justice or human services, sign up to attend a field trip to Ivy Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to learn about their programs. Permission forms are available in Student Services. Space is limited and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis based on returned permission forms.

  • All juniors will take the SAT on March 4. Taking the SAT is a requirement. All 11th-grade students must take the SAT to be eligible to attend prom. On March 4, 9th- and 10th-graders will participate in alternate activities during and after testing. 12th-graders can choose to go on a Lincoln Tech visit or plan their own college visit or job shadowing experience on that day.   • Seniors: Interested in a college visit to Lincoln Tech? Marion High School is offering a field trip on March 4. Pick up a permission slip in Student Services. Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

  • Attention, Marion High School seniors: Marion High School Alumni Association scholarship applications are now open! These are available only to MHS students, so don't miss your opportunity to apply. Deadline to apply is March 31. Click here for more information

  • All students attending home boys basketball games must sit in the student section or upstairs. Students cannot sit behind the team. This includes players on other basketball teams.

  • Track and field conditioning takes place inside for all non-winter athletes after school until 5:15 p.m. Meet at 4:15 p.m. outside the Athletic Office's Hospitality Room. Contact Coach Lakes or Coach Larson for more information.

  • Nominate a fellow MHS student to be selected for our student of the month. Please check your email to find the nomination form from Mrs. Myers.

  • Baseball winter workouts are from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Justice Intermediate School. Information about official practices, which can start March 17, will be provided.

  • Morning entry doors reminder: All MHS students who walk to school or are dropped off by car (or drive themselves) must enter at Door 16 (on the back west side, enter at stadium lot). Car riders and walkers are NOT to enter at Door 19, that is for bus riders only. There will be no entry at Door 1 for students until 8:45 a.m. (after the tardy bell has rung). Students should NOT be dropped off at the front of the building unless they are coming in late. Doors 8 and 10 are currently closed due to construction, no entry or exit through those at any time.

  • Dress code reminder: No pajama pants, blankets, hats, or hoods during the school day. 

  • SENIORS: If you missed the graduation order day, you can still order your cap/gown and other graduation products online here until April.

  • Seniors who have been approved for off-campus lunch should exit and re-enter at Door 16. 
     
  • SENIORS! Please check your email on a regular basis for announcements, surveys, and other important information.

NEED HELP WITH CLASSWORK? TUTORING IS AVAILABLE:

Afternoon tutoring will start back up on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Tutoring runs from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. If you plan to attend tutoring, you must sign up before 10 a.m. on that day. See the posted flyers or your email for more information.

GENERAL REMINDERS:

  • When entering for boys basketball games, students should park at the tennis courts and enter Door 11 of the arena. For girls' games, enter at Door 15. You must have your student ID for entry into games. Students must sit in the student section or upstairs. You may only enter and exit each athletic event one time. There are no pass-outs at games. Only MHS students are free of charge.

  • MHS students get in free with student ID to MHS home games, but there is no free entry for MHS students to McCulloch Junior High games. The cost is $2 per student, cash only. 
     

  • All students must follow proper procedures when leaving during the school day. Your parent/guardian must call you out. You must sign out. You must use Door 1. Leaving the building without permission or without using proper procedures will result in out-of-school suspension.

  • Off-campus senior lunch information: You must have 90% attendance, no Fs, no major referrals, Box 2 graduation requirement form turned in, and a senior lunch permission slip turned in to qualify for off-campus lunch. You can pick up a Box 2 form and a permission slip from Mrs. Turney in Student Services. Please turn Box 2 forms and permission slips in to Mrs. Phillippe or Mrs. Turney to qualify for off-campus senior lunch.

  • The Key Club Care Closet is available to help those in need. It has items such as clothing, shoes, food, menstrual hygiene products, and school supplies such as book bags and more. Reach out to your counselor for any questions or if you’re in need of any items.

 

ON SCHOOL DAYS DURING THE YEAR:
 

  • Students are not to be in the building before 8:30 a.m. or after 4:05 p.m. unless you are under the supervision of a teacher or coach.

  • If you are walking to the building or being dropped off by car in the morning, enter at Door 2 in the front of the building; enter the drive on 26th Street. (NOT use the west drive on Carey Street). 
     
  • No DoorDash or other food deliveries are permitted.  
     

  • For those of you who drive to school: Students are not allowed to park in the front circle or in the staff and visitor parking lot in front of the auditorium.
     

  • Hats and hoods pulled up are not allowed in the school building. Please remove when you enter the school.
     

  • Any student carrying prescription medications, inhalers, or epinephrine pens, please go to the nurse’s office for permission forms.
     

  • If you are having a problem with someone picking on you, be smart and use the resources available. Please come to the office and see Mr. Blackmon, our conflict resolution officer.
     

  • Students are not to use the school’s elevators unless you have been pre-approved by the school’s nurse or the main office due to an injury.
