- Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. During this month we recognize the many contributions Latinx people have made in our country. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month, everyone!
- New entry door for car riders and walkers: Starting Oct. 14, Door 8 will not be used due to construction. All MHS students who walk to school or are dropped off by car (or drive themselves) must enter at Door 2 in the front of the building. All other morning entry doors will remain the same. Enter the drive on 26th Street. (NOT use the west drive on Carey Street).
- A reminder to all students: You must follow proper procedures when leaving during the school day. Your parent/guardian must call you out. You must sign out. You must use Door 1. Leaving the building without permission or without using proper procedures will result in out-of-school suspension.
- SENIORS! Please check your email on a regular basis for announcements, surveys, and other important information.
- JROTC is having a clothing drive to donate to MCS elementary schools, Justice Intermediate School, and local shelters. Donation boxes are located in the GRCC office, Student Services, nurse’s office, and the JROTC office (Room 2-13). The drive will end Monday, Oct. 28, the day we return from fall break.
- Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica (Spanish Honor Society) will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Room 1-06. Members are required to attend. Contact Señora Saathoff with questions.
- If you are interested in having a part in the Black History Club musical “The Wiz”, there will be a meeting after school Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Room 2-34. Plan to attend or contact Mrs. Owensby with any questions.
- School pictures are set for all students (seniors and underclassmen) and staff for Oct. 10 during ELA classes. Any student not currently enrolled in an ELA class (or staffer not taking their own class down) will need to get their picture taken before 3:30 pm. Pictures will be taken in the upper gym. Underclassmen are expected to dress appropriately, abiding by typical dress code. Seniors should dress up for their senior portraits. Note that you cannot get a student ID without having your photo taken. Student IDs are used for school meals, athletics competition entry, and more.
- The Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society induction ceremony is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Walton Center. Inductees and returning members should arrive by 6:45 p.m. Members need to pay their dues to Mr. Porter or Treasurer Nathaniel Beck.
- MHS choirs invite you to their annual Giant Java Jam: A Choir Coffee House on Oct. 12. Click here for details.
- The first Indiana Mathematics League test of the year is immediately after school on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the cafeteria. All students are welcome to attend and should bring a calculator.
- MHS bands invite you to their Halloween concert and trick-or-treat on Oct. 15. Click here for details.

- We are in search of a new MHS mascot. If you are interested in taking on the role of "Stretch", please contact PE teacher Mrs. Maxwell.
- The Key Club Care Closet is available to help those in need. It has items such as clothing, shoes, food, menstrual hygiene products, and school supplies such as book bags and more. Reach out to your counselor for any questions or if you’re in need of any items.
- Off-campus senior lunch information: You must have 90% attendance, no Fs, no major referrals, Box 2 graduation requirement form turned in, and a senior lunch permission slip turned in to qualify for off-campus lunch. You can pick up a Box 2 form and a permission slip from Mrs. Turney in Student Services. Please turn Box 2 forms and permission slips in to Mrs. Phillippe or Mrs. Turney ASAP to qualify for off-campus senior lunch on Thursdays starting Sept. 19.

GENERAL REMINDERS:
- A reminder for football games at MHS: Students in grades preschool through 8th grade are not allowed to attend football games without adult supervision. A high school-aged sibling is not acceptable supervision for younger students. If a child does not have an adult with them, they will be denied entry to the game. Students are expected to stay with their adult during the game. Behavior expectations remain in place. All students are governed by Marion Community Schools Rules, Consequences, and Supports at any school event. Tickets are $7; MHS students can get in free of charge with their student ID.

When entering for boys basketball games, students should park at the tennis courts and enter Door 11 of the arena. For girls' games, enter at Door 15. You must have your student ID. Students must sit in the student section or upstairs. You may only enter and exit each athletic event one time. There are no pass-outs at games. Only MHS students are free of charge.

MHS students get in free with student ID to MHS home games, but there is no free entry for MHS students to McCulloch Junior High games. The cost is $2 per student, cash only.
ON SCHOOL DAYS DURING THE YEAR:

Students are not to be in the building before 8:30 a.m. or after 4:05 p.m. unless you are under the supervision of a teacher or coach.
- If you are walking to the building or being dropped off by car in the morning, enter at Door 2 in the front of the building; enter the drive on 26th Street. (NOT use the west drive on Carey Street).

No students are currently allowed to leave the building for lunch. No DoorDash or other food deliveries are permitted.

For those of you who drive to school: Students are not allowed to park in the front circle or in the staff and visitor parking lot in front of the auditorium.

Hats and hoods pulled up are not allowed in the school building. Please remove when you enter the school.

Any student carrying prescription medications, inhalers, or epinephrine pens, please go to the nurse’s office for permission forms.

If you are having a problem with someone picking on you, be smart and use the resources available. Please come to the office and see Mr. Blackmon, our conflict resolution officer.

Students are not to use the school’s elevators unless you have been pre-approved by the school’s nurse or the main office due to an injury.
