MHS musicians selected for IJEA All-District Jazz Honor Band

Two Marion High School students have been selected to perform in the Indiana Jazz Education Association All-District Jazz Honor Band.

The musicians selected are juniors Thomas Owen and Elaina Dunham, who both play trombone.

The All-District Jazz Honor Band, which features select students from around the area in grades nine through 12, is a great opportunity and gives students a chance to learn and grow as musicians. To be selected for the IJEA Honor Band, students are recommended by their band director, and must submit applications to be considered for the Honor Band earlier this year. Applications from students across the state were evaluated to select members of this talented group.

Selected musicians were tasked with practicing the musical selections in preparation for the special performance. They will gather to rehearse together on Nov. 14, then offer a public performance Nov. 15 at Pendleton Heights High School, under the direction of Adam Waller, Director of Bands at Anderson University, and Mark Middleton, a longtime band director who is now on staff at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA).

Congratulations to these talented, hard-working students on this great accomplishment!
