Marion's Hahn is No. 3 scorer in state, No. 13 nationally

Marion High School sophomore Nyomi Hahn is climbing the leaderboards at home, in the NCC, statewide and even at the national level!

Hahn has hit No. 16 on the list of all-time scorers in MHS girls basketball history, with 820 points.

She is currently ranked No. 1 in the North Central Conference in points per game (29.7) and steals per game (4.6). She is No. 2 in the NCC with rebounds per game (8.1) and assists per game (5.5), and she is No. 5 in the NCC for blocks per game (1.6). 

According to MaxPreps stats, her points per game total also puts her at No. 3 in the state and No. 13 nationally.

Townsend also among top in NCC

Marion High School sophomore Jaylee Townsend is also in the top five scorers in the NCC.

She is currently ranked No. 3 in the NCC for points per game (14.9) and No. 4 in the NCC for steals per game (2.6). 

Townsend recently scored her 500th point as a Marion Giant girls basketball player.

Giants showing up strong this season

About half-way through the girls basketball season, Marion High School is currently sitting at No. 1 in the NCC, with an 8-4 overall record (2-0 NCC). 

Their remaining regular schedule* is:

  • Dec. 19 home varsity double-header vs. Kokomo (girls game 6 p.m., followed by boys game) 
  • Dec. 22-23 they'll compete at the Memorial Tournament in Richmond
  • Jan. 7 home game vs. Southwood
  • Jan. 10 at Richmond
  • Jan. 14 at Mississinewa
  • Jan. 17 at Fort Wayne South Side
  • Jan. 20 at Oak Hill
  • Jan. 28 home game vs. Adams Central

The IHSAA post-season tournament gets under way in early February. The Giants are set to compete in the Mississinewa sectional along with the host team, Bellmont, Heritage, and New Haven. Pairings will be set in late January.
