Gianettes headed to dance state finals this weekend

Congratulations to the Marion High School Gianettes dance team on making it to the IHSDTA state finals in their first year of competition! 

The Gianettes are scheduled to perform at 4:28 p.m. this Sunday, March 2, at Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The competition is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and will run through 6:30 p.m. The award ceremony is set for 6:42 p.m. Along with the state competition awards, honors will also include Academic All State, Sportsmanship and Scholarship awards, Most Improved award, and more.

The Gianettes earned their state berth with a runner-up placement with their jazz performance in the Scholastic Division at the IHSDTA regional held at Noblesville High School recently. 

This is the first year for the team, coached by MCS teachers Diva Hunt and Emily Phillippe, and they compete on the Indiana High School Dance Team Association circuit. The IHSDTA sponsors 12 weekends of local invitationals each year, along with regional and state championship competitions.

Founded in May 1994, IHSDTA’s mission is to support the development of student athletes while helping them achieve a positive self-worth through competitive dance. Since 2003 the IHSDTA has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to outstanding seniors from its membership schools. Marion High School is proud to offer this new opportunity to our talented, hard-working students!
