Ndow earns President’s Volunteer Service Award

Marion High School senior Abigail Ndow has been awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award, which honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities and inspires those around them to take action, too.

This award program, founded by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and led by AmeriCorps, recognizes the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity.

Ndow was recognized at the bronze level, signifying volunteer hours between 100 and 174 this year. She logged 160 hours of service through the Leadership for Service (L4S) program administered by Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Foundation.

Ndow participated in a HOBY leadership conference in her sophomore year, and has been connected with the program since then. HOBY was founded in 1958 in California “to inspire a global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation”, eventually spreading across the nation. Today more than 500,000 HOBY alumni around the world are making a difference in the lives of others.

Marion Community Schools congratulates Ndow on this achievement, and thanks her for her dedication to community service!
