Starting this year, seniors in the state of Indiana are required to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be eligible for graduation.*
The FAFSA is the only way to access federal and state financial aid so it is extremely important that you complete it on time to keep your options open for continuing education after high school! Most U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens (including U.S. nationals and permanent residents, as well as some other designated resident categories) are eligible for financial aid for college or career school. It is also a requirement for 21st Century Scholars.
On several dates throughout February, March, and April, our partners at Project Leadership will be providing one-on-one support for seniors and their families. These meetings will be by appointment between 8:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Marion High School Library.
Please contact Mrs. Gay in Student Services, 765-664-9051 ext. 7023, or send her a message here to set up a time for you (and your family if needed).
The dates are:
- Feb. 15
- Feb. 29
- March 7
- March 14
- April 4
- April 11
The deadline to file a FAFSA is April 15.
* NOTE: There is an opt-out provision for which some students may be eligible, but we are offering help to our students and families to help them clear this hurdle, because the FAFSA can help open up new possibilities beyond high school for our graduates!
