JROTC field day will bring cadets, community together

This Friday, Oct. 13, the JROTC Giant Battalion’s cadets will face physical and mental challenges at Marion’s Matter Park, and cadets from Warsaw High Schools’ JROTC programs will be joining in the event.

Representatives from the Marion Police and Fire departments, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Ball State University ROTC, and Indiana Wesleyan University, along with recruiters from the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, as well as the Indiana National Guard will host a series of competitive events for JROTC cadets to complete.

The all-day event will certainly be a challenge for all of the cadets.

“We deliberately partnered with other service-oriented organizations so the cadets could see and get to know individuals who have dedicated their lives to the service of others,” said retired Lt. Col. David Farlow, Senior Army Instructor for Marion High School JROTC. “I want the cadets to understand that giving back to their community is important.”
