Marion grad returns to lead Marion High School

Marion Community Schools is pleased to announce the next principal of Marion High School: Dr. Stacey Y.S. Hunt.

Hunt, a Marion High School graduate, has experience in various educational leadership roles at Chicago Public Schools and several other Illinois school districts, along with several Indiana school districts, including Gary Community Schools and Washington Township and Lawrence Township schools in Indianapolis.

“I am humbly honored and overwhelmed to receive this position,” Hunt said. “I appreciate everything this community has done for me and my family. To be able to return and give back is very powerful for me.” 

Hunt earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Ball State University, Muncie; her Master’s in Educational Administration from Butler University, Indianapolis; and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Marion Community Schools Superintendent Keith Burke said he looks forward to Dr. Hunt’s leadership.

“Dr. Hunt is a seasoned administrator with various experiences to draw from. She is a Giant coming home, and we are excited for her to lead our high school,” Burke said. 

Monday, July 24, will be Principal Hunt’s first official day.
